About Us
Freeway Auto Body is a third generation family owned and operated business serving St. Paul and the surrounding area since the early 1950's. Albert Osterman started his automotive career by opening Osterman's Garage in St. Paul off of Rice Street.
After relocating the business to multiple addresses throughout the St. Paul area, Albert chose our present location just South of I-94 on Snelling in 1969.
After many years in the business Albert brought his son Michael Osterman into the industry to teach him the family trade. Michael spent much of his childhood working along side his father learning the auto body trade. In the early 1980's Albert handed down his auto body business to his son to manage.
In 1997 Freeway Auto Body's third generation, Michael Osterman Jr. began working part-time while attending school. Michael Jr. learned a lot of the trade over the years growing up restoring classic cars with his dad. By 2005 Mike's youngest son Robert graduated school and began working part-time for the business while attending St. Cloud State for a business degree. After graduating college Robert also came back to the family business. We've all been actively involved and working with each other since.
